STEM Engineering Group Incorporated is a multi-disciplined Engineering Consulting firm providing services to clients throughout Ontario and Michigan in the industrial, municipal, institutional, and private sectors.
STEM was established in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, in 1994. Shortly after commencing operations STEM expanded its services by acquiring the local branch office of Proctor and Redfern Limited, a large provincial engineering firm, with its 40-year history in the Algoma District.
STEM has been involved in a broad range of engineering projects. Assignments include construction engineers for the $10 million Sault Locks Reconstruction, structural design of the $30 million F.J. Davey Home (Long-term Care Facility), structural design modifications to the finishing area descaler pits for Algoma Tubes, structural design of East End Water Pollution Control Plant for the City of Sault Ste. Marie, and the study/design/construction management of the Fort Creek Flood Control Aqueduct for the City of Sault Ste. Marie.
On the industrial side, some prominent assignments include the equipment design & layout for a prototype state-of-the-art tire recycling facility, pipe design including routing, support structure and stress analysis for ESSAR Steel Algoma (formerly Algoma Steel), the design of two 1005°F and 450 psi steam vents for AELP (Algoma Energy Limited Partnership), and 3D laser scanning and engineering support at several Brookfield Generating Stations.
