The Geotechnical Engineering Team at TULLOCH offers services to infrastructure, mining, and energy clients throughout Ontario and Canada.  We provide expertise and experience in executing high complexity site investigations for large-scale developments, often located in remote areas.  Our Engineering work encompasses specialized foundation and earthwork engineering, design of shoring and ground improvement schemes, design, construction and safety reviews of dams as well as forensic investigations.      

We are currently looking for a full time Geotechnical Technician to join our team.  This is a permanent full-time position to begin as soon as a successful candidate is found.

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Civil/Geotechnical/Geological Engineering Technology;

• C.Tech or C.E.T. designation is an asset;

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in the geotechnical field;

• Geotechnical investigation experience including borehole logging, in-situ testing and soil sampling;

• Construction inspection and materials testing experience;

• Familiarity with geotechnical analysis and modeling software;

• Good report writing skills and general computer skills;

• Class G driver’s license is required and willingness to travel (Northern Ontario and across Canada);

• Solid written and verbal communication skills;

• Organizational skills, strong work ethic, problem solving and decision-making skills, self-initiative, and eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Participation in all stages of site investigation including proposal preparation, sub-contractor liaison, work plan development and co-ordination, field investigations and reporting;

• Supervising geotechnical drilling and test pitting assignments;

• In-situ soil testing including Cone PenetrationTesting, Shear Vane Testing, etc.;

• Soil classification, logging and sampling;

• Preparation of borehole logs in gINT;

• Construction inspection and monitoring;

• Assist with geotechnical modeling and data analysis;

• Report preparation;

• Strong client liaison and communications.
