Our Geomatics team at TULLOCH offers services to clients in all major sectors across Canada. In addition to conventional surveying services, we also offer construction monitoring, precision layout, 3D laser scanning and bathymetry surveys. About The Position

We are currently looking for a full-time Survey Crew Chief (Technologist) to join our growing Toronto team supporting transportation, transit, and rail infrastructure development in Southern Ontario. Our office is in the vibrant area of Liberty Village located just North of Exhibition GO, one stop from Union Station.

This is a permanent, full time position to begin as soon as a successful candidate is found.

 

Working under the supervision of a Project Manager,

the primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assessment of field and documentary evidence to perform cadastral surveys

  • Performing pre-engineering, topographic surveys while overseeing field activities

  • Performing high-precision surveys such as: layout, deformation monitoring, levelling, static control network surveys

  • Collecting field data using various survey instruments and GPS field equipment

  • Overseeing QC of data collection ensuring that field notes and daily downloads are complete

  • Collecting of terrestrial scanning data or aptitude and willingness to learn

  • Client interaction while on-site

  • Mentoring and training new field staff

  • Opportunities to work on proposals, reports and producing deliverables

 

Qualifications

  • Preferred candidate will have a minimum five (5) years practical related experience

  • Completion of a two (2) year minimum college program in geomatics technology or equivalent

  • Must be proficient in setting up, operating and troubleshooting Trimble survey equipment (or similar).

  • Must be comfortable with static control surveys, high-precision layout work and 1st order levelling techniques, or willing to learn

  • Knowledge of Ontario survey evidence assessment, Acts, Standards and Regulations as they relate to performing cadastral surveys

  • Willingness to pursue articling process towards becoming an OLS (optional)

  • Be well organized and have a career mindset

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Unwavering commitment to environmental health and safety in the workplace

  • Proficient in the operation of ATVs/UTVs/Snowmobiles

  • Willing to travel for site inspections and field work on occasion, sometimes on short notice and for long periods of time

  • Willing to mentor and train other colleagues

  • Valid Driver’s License
